The Kathe Wohlfahrt holiday tradition goes back decades and is firmly entrenched here in Minnesota. For more than 50 years, the company’s mission has embraced the spirit of the season with an unmatched enthusiasm.

Their products, which include ornaments that run the gamut of colors, shapes, sizes and themes, aim to embody the family’s passion for the holiday season and bringing people together while preserving customs and associated craftsmanship.

“When visiting Kathe Wohlfahrt, whether it is at a store in Germany, Stillwater, Minn., or at Holidazzle, you will experience the joy of Christmas in a large, festively decorated, heated environment,” Kathe Wohlfahrt Vice President-North America Steve Thoreson said. “Our items are hand crafted, unique heirlooms that create enchanting traditions in homes worldwide.”

That worldwide reach comes full circle here in Minnesota. Prior to starting the company, the Wohlfahrt family lived for a short time in Rochester, while Wilhelm Wohlfahrt was training and working at IBM. When Kathe Wohlfahrt decided to open its first year-round store in the U.S. in 2001, they chose Stillwater here in Minnesota because of their fond memories of living here.

Now, being part of Holidazzle offers a chance for Kathe Wohlfahrt to share their love of the holidays with Minnesotans who travel near and far to enjoy this annual Minneapolis tradition.

“Our biggest reward is seeing all the excited faces, many of the same from each year, and hearing all of the wonderful comments the customers share as they make their way through our stores and we help them pick out the perfect decorations or gifts,” Thoreson said.

This year, you can enjoy browsing and shopping Kathe Wohlfahrt right here at Holidazzle, which will take place in Loring Park. They’ll be open Thursdays through Sundays beginning Friday, November 27 and running through Sunday, December 20. Stop by Thursdays and Fridays from 5-9 pm and on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 am-9 pm.

When you arrive, you’ll be dazzled by the sheer volume of ornaments and decorations that are on hand in their heated Holidazzle tent.

There will be more than 2,000 different and unique item styles catering to all different preferences and likes, and many fine German craftsmanship items in exclusive Käthe Wohlfahrt products.

“We offer hand-painted glass ornaments, unique Schwibbogens modeled after the days of mining, heartfelt Music Boxes, German Incense Smokers and Nutcrackers from our Rothenburg Christmas Workshop to the timeless coveted Christmas Pyramids,” Thoreson said. “And everything in between. We have something special for everyone on your list.”

What makes this story so special is the Kathe Wohlfahrt brand’s connection to Minnesota from all those years ago. It is a local bond that stretches back decades, is showcased each day at its Stillwater store and is further emphasized by Kathe Wohlfahrt’s presence here at Holidazzle.

Thoreson said the best part of the holiday season is capturing the spirit of time-honored, beloved German Christmas traditions and sharing them with the community.

Kathe Wohlfahrt is doing just that at Holidazzle. Stop by and enjoy the holidays with us.
